144h Itinerary — 2 Days in Shenzhen

Day 1: Futuristic Shenzhen

Morning — Window of the World (世界之窗) This theme park features miniature replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids, Taj Mahal, and 130 other world landmarks — all at 1/3 scale. Arrive at opening time (9:30 AM). Allow 4-5 hours. Take Metro Line 1 or 2 to Window of the World (世界之窗).

Midday — Shenzhen Bay Park Walk or bike along the 13 km Shenzhen Bay coastal promenade. On clear days you can see Hong Kong’s Lion Rock in the distance. The Mangrove Park nearby is a bird watcher’s paradise.

Afternoon — Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center The stunning geometry of this building is best seen from the outside. The surrounding area has excellent shopping and restaurants.

Day 2: Culture & Tech

Morning — MERE (当代艺术与城市规划馆) One of China’s most impressive contemporary art museums — the building itself is iconic. Free entry. Take Metro Line 4 to Adult Education Center (市民中心).

Midday — Dafen Village (大芬油画村) A village turned into an art factory — producing 60% of the world’s oil paintings. Browse studios where artists paint copies of masterpieces, or commission your own portrait.

Afternoon — Huaqiangbei Electronics Market The world’s largest consumer electronics market. Six floors of gadgets, components, and tech curiosities. Take Metro Line 7 to Huaqiang North.

Getting From the Airport

From Shenzhen Bao’an Airport (SZX)

  • Metro Line 11: Direct to city center — 30 min to Qianhai, ¥7
  • Airport Bus: Routes to Luobao and other areas — ¥20-35, 40-60 min
  • Taxi: ~40 min to city center, ¥120-150

Getting Around Shenzhen

Shenzhen Metro is extensive (500+ km). Download the “深圳通” app or get a card at the airport.

240h Extended Route: Guangdong Province

Hong Kong (1 day) — 15 min by Metro or 45 min by high-speed train Take the Metro from Shenzhen to Hong Kong’s West Kowloon (¥65, 15 min) or the Futian Checkpoint to Hung Hom (¥90, 45 min). Entry requires an endorsement on your passport for Hong Kong separately.

Guangzhou (1 day) — 40 min by high-speed train Combine with Guangzhou transit. Take G-trains from Shenzhen North or Futian to Guangzhou South (¥75, 40 min).

Macau (1 day) — 1 hour by bus or ferry The Cotai casinos and colonial Portuguese architecture. Take a bus from Shenzhen ports or a ferry from Shekou (¥220, 1h).
