Who This Policy Applies To
This Cookie Policy applies to citizens and legal permanent residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland who visit chinaneighbor.com. It explains what cookies and similar technologies we set, how we ask for your consent, and how you can withdraw it at any time. Visitors from other regions are governed by ourPrivacy Policy.
What This Policy Covers
"Cookies" here means small files stored by your browser, as well as equivalent technologies such as local storage entries and third-party scripts that can recognize your device across requests. We group everything we set into three categories below.
What We Set, and When
1. Strictly necessary (no consent needed)
These are required for the site to work and to keep it secure:
- Cloudflare security cookies (
__cf_bm,cf_clearance) — protect the site against bots and abuse. Set by Cloudflare, our CDN. Session duration. - Your consent choice (
cn_consent, browser local storage) — remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies so we do not re-ask on every page. Kept for up to 12 months, never leaves your device except as an anonymous decision record (see "Consent records" below). - Theme preference (browser local storage) — remembers your dark/light mode choice. Never leaves your device.
2. Statistics (consent required)
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*; provider: Google, up to 24 months) — anonymous measurement of which pages are read and how the site is used, so we can improve it. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in consent mode without cookies: it sends no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
3. Marketing / affiliate (consent required)
- Affiliate partner script (Travelpayouts "Drive") — after you accept, a script from our affiliate network loads and may set cookies on our site and on partner domains (for example Trip.com, Kiwi.com) to attribute bookings that start from our links. These commissions keep this site free. If you decline, the script never loads and affiliate links work as ordinary links.
How Consent Works
On your first visit you will see a short banner at the bottom of the page with two equally sized choices: Accept and Decline. Declining is exactly as easy as accepting — nothing is hidden behind extra clicks.
- If you accept: statistics and affiliate cookies are enabled, as described above.
- If you decline: only strictly necessary cookies are used. Google Analytics stays in cookieless consent mode; the affiliate script does not load.
- Not choosing: if you simply browse without choosing, nothing is enabled and the banner stays available.
Your choice is stored on your device for up to 12 months. You can withdraw or change it at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving consent:
Consent Records
When you accept or decline, we log the decision to demonstrate compliance: the decision itself (accepted/declined), your broad region, your country code, the page language, and a timestamp. Records are kept for about 13 months and then deleted automatically. We do not log IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or anything that identifies you.
Controlling Cookies in Your Browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that deleting site data also clears your stored consent choice, so you will see the banner again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may make parts of the site unavailable.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR (and the UK GDPR / Swiss FADP where applicable) you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, and objection regarding your personal data. Since the cookies in categories 2 and 3 only activate with your consent, the most immediate control is the button above. For anything else, contact us. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Changes to This Policy
If the cookies we use change, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent again.
