Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a 10-day trip to China cost?
For two travelers at comfort level flying from North America or Europe, the calculator typically lands around $3,300–$6,500 total, of which round-trip flights are roughly $1,400–$2,600. On the ground, expect about $95–$195 per person per day at comfort level, roughly $45–$100 on a budget, and $180+ for premium.
Is China expensive for tourists?
Day-to-day costs are lower than in most Western countries — street food starts around $3, a metro ride is about $0.30–$0.80, and high-speed rail between major cities costs a fraction of European train fares. The two biggest swings in your budget are international flights and your hotel tier. For day-to-day spending, mobile payments are how everything is paid in China.
What's included — and what isn't?
The estimate covers eight categories: flights, hotels, food, local transport, intercity travel, attractions, eSIM data, and airport transfers. It doesn't include visa fees (many nationalities now enter visa-free for 30 days or under the 240-hour transit rule, travel insurance, shopping, or incidentals like laundry.
Are the estimates in US dollars?
Yes — USD keeps the numbers comparable wherever you're from. Prices in China itself are in yuan (CNY). Mid-trip, our currency converter gives you live CNY rates for the price tag in front of you.
When is the most expensive time to visit?
During China's Golden Weeks — Chinese New Year (late January–February), the first week of May, and the first week of October. Flights and hotels spike, and attractions are crowded. Check your dates against the public holidays calendar before you book.
How current are these prices?
The ranges are 2026 planning figures, calibrated against what budget, comfort and premium trips actually cost this year. Exact prices move with the season and exchange rates — that's what the live-price links are for. For data costs specifically, the eSIM data calculator sizes a plan to your usage.
